Labdar-Tech Engineering and Design

Design Chapters and Projects

Progress at your own pace with practical chapters and projects inspired by real-world mechanical design scenarios. The program is offered remotely and can be adapted to SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or CATIA V5.

Proposed SolidWorks Learning Path

  1. Introduction: interface, file organization, units, and best practices.
  2. Sketches: constraints, relations, dimensioning, and design intent.
  3. 3D Parts: basic features, patterns, configurations, and properties.
  4. Assemblies: mates, subassemblies, motion, and interference detection.
  5. Drawings: views, sections, details, bills of materials, and title blocks.
  6. Sheet Metal and Structures: bends, flat patterns, profiles, and cut lists.
  7. Surfaces and Advanced Geometry: complex shapes and continuity.
  8. Validation: design verification, motion studies, and introduction to simulation.
  9. Automation: templates, macros, VBA, and introduction to APIs.
  10. Final Project: complete design, assembly, manufacturing documentation, and presentation.

Design Projects

  • Modeling a mechanical part from a drawing or functional requirement.
  • Creating an assembly with a bill of materials and interference checking.
  • Preparing a manufacturing package with drawings, tolerances, and DXF files.
  • Designing a sheet metal part or welded structure.
  • Automating a repetitive task using a macro or API.
